When do we get reimbursed for travel?

Funding update: 25/07/2024

From 31st August 2024 onwards, our funding will have run out. This means you will need to fund your flights on all programmes (unless we clearly email you to say otherwise.) You will also need to self-fund your TEFL training and support by paying a fixed fee per programme (regardless of duration). See details here.

For programmes running before 31st August 2024, the rules below will still apply:

First off, we really care about being financially inclusive. We were established in order to break down barriers to opportunities of this kind, and we are fortunate to have various funding routes open to participants. So we will always do what we can do ensure financial barriers don't prevent your participation!

If you come from a low income background, please email us and we can try to make special dispensations to support you - this may mean flexing the policies below in order to be as helpful as we can be.

In most cases, we will need adhere to our general policy on flight/travel purchasing, which is outlined below.

When are flights/travel reimbursed?

Usually you will need to book your own travel, this will then be reimbursed at the end of your programme as long as you have met programme requirements and are on track for your TESOL qualification. You will need to request reimbursement through our system in order for this to be processed, using the link here: https://www.go-to.co/invoicing/

Before we authorise a reimbursement, we need to check that all of your paperwork is complete and in order. This means DBS, health forms, grant forms and any other required documents must have been completed for the reimbursement to process. In your pre-departure period, please ensure you pay attention to emails from us so that you get all those forms completed in good-time, otherwise reimbursements will be delayed.

We will also need evidence that you are engaging with the designated courses and on track with any deadlines, for most of you this will be the TEFL teacher training course. We offer a number of TEFL training options, for those of you on the highest intensity Trinity CertTESOL, we cannot refund this until you graduate the course (which may be a 3-6 month commitment). If this is you, and you really need earlier reimbursement then as long as you evidence that you have engaged with the course effectively and are committed to completing it, then we can offer a 50% reimbursement after 30 days of your arrival onto a programme.

We need to abide by the policy above wherever possible, in order to protect the public funding that is issued to you when you engage with our programme. However, being financially accessible is very important to our mission, so we can flex and waive these requirements in special cases. For any applicant, reimbursements can be made sooner in exceptional circumstances, e.g for those from widening participation backgrounds, or people with evidenced financial difficulties. If you wish to make a request, please email us and we will explain the process. When you make a request, you will need to provide 2x referees. The first would usually be your emergency contact, this person may be asked to confirm that you are in financial difficulties so that we can assess your request. The second would be your professional referee, you would simply make a guarantee in front of this person that you are taking the teaching training seriously and intend to complete asap, they would be contacted later on if you neglect to complete the course.

We reserve the right not to reimburse flight expenses if there is reason to believe learners aren't making progress and efforts to thrive on the teacher training course. For reimbursement amounts, please read the FAQs linked below.
